Metal in the Mountains

  • The Arts Council of Big Sky 285 Simkins Drive Big Sky, MT, 59730 United States (map)

The Arts Council of Big Sky adds a new event to this summer's Music in the Mountains concert series. On September 14, experience Metal in the Mountains, an end-of-summer festival showcasing local heavy metal bands. Headlining is Big Sky's Scavenger, with support from Belgrade's Liquid Gnar and Big Sky's Stoneman's Way, all in Len Hill Park.

Brian Hurlbut, the Arts Council’s Executive Director, says, “We’re excited to showcase the area’s heavy metal scene to a Big Sky audience.”

Celebrating their 10-year anniversary, Scavenger has played 150+ shows across Montana, releasing albums in 2018 and soon this year. Liquid Gnar, winner of the Belgrade High School Battle of the Bands, joins with their latest single, Eye of the Sun.

Stoneman’s Way, a punk-influenced rock band, released their debut album this year and often performs locally. The event starts at 5:30 with Stoneman’s Way, followed by Liquid Gnar at 6:30, and Scavenger at 8 p.m. Food trucks, family-friendly vibes, and support from the Arts Council, Rocks Tasting Room, Big Sky Build, Herbaceous, and Liquid Death complete the event. Make sure to come by and visit our booth!
